Elliott ‘Retirement’ very Short

Radio veteran, Malcolm T Elliott, has been snapped up by Sydney talk rival, 2GB, little more than a week after resigning from 2UE.

Sticking true to his claim that he is ‘not ready to hang up his headphones yet’, 58 year old Elliott has been employed by 2GB replacing weekend mid-dawn host, Glenn Wheeler.

Wheeler has told ‘Sydney Confidential’ in The Daily Telegraph that he is “… shocked and extremely disappointed after two years of loyal service and effort,” and claims Program Director John Brennan refused to take his calls overnight.

But an internal memo from Assistant Programme Director Trevor Long tells a different slightly different story from that reported in the Telegraph:

MEMO: All Staff

On Sunday Night, Glenn Wheeler tendered his resignation from the station, and after much consideration, that resignation has been accepted.

Because of this, Jason Morrison will be hosting the Weekend Mid-Dawn program this weekend, and as of this weekend Malcolm T. Elliott will host the Saturday and Sunday weekend evening programs (Saturday 4pm-8pm and Sunday 4pm-6pm prior to SportsZone with Andrew Moore).

Malcolm has a wealth of experience in Radio, and is a welcome addition to the 2GB team.

Jason has a longstanding relationship with 2GB and fills in for Philip Clark over summer.
