Elvis Broadcast Worldwide for Rock ‘n’ Roll’s 50th

Rock ‘n ‘roll’s 50th birthday has been marked by Elvis Presley’s ‘That’s All Right Mama’ being played simultaneously on up to 1500 radio stations around the world.

The Presley recording is regarded by many historians as the first official rock ‘n’ roll song and was fed from the famous Sun Studios, in Memphis, Tennessee to radio stations in Britain, the Ukraine, Canada to Mexico.

Sun Studios has become a national landmark and even has an “X” on the studio floor, where Presley stood for his first recording.

The guitarist in that session, Scotty Moore, was at Sun to press the play button, which sent the feed to radio across the globe. Even Justin Timberlake was there.
