EON Broadcasting’s Sunshine Coast stations 92.7 MIX FM and 919 SEA FM have launched the upgrade of their online apps, with the inclusion of an Australian first for radio, with “MIX Mites” and “SEA Bites” using the social audio network “Soundmite.”
Both MIX Mites and SEA Bites will mean the audience can create 21 second audio “BiTES” and text from the embedded custom channel inside their station App.
SOUNDMITE creates a new level of push-pull interactivity with EON listeners. The high quality audio can be used on-air, in a curated widget stream on-line, and at the same time shared instantly on the listeners’ social media Facebook and Twitter, without leaving the radio station’s App environment.
EON Broadcasting Content Director Rod Brice says: “We are really excited to be the first radio group in Australia to launch the “Soundmite” system.
“Our 919 SEA FM and 92.7 MIX FM audiences are already closely connected with their stations and the development by “Soundmite” of not just an audio messaging system but also an additional level of Social Media activity with the ability to geo track our audience is incredible.”
Soundmite Development U.S.A.’s Lee Cornell says: “As an expat Aussie, hearing SOUNDMITE launch on Australian Commercial Radio is hugely exciting, and among our international firsts. It’s a special moment for SOUNDMITE, and our partners EON BROADCASTING, an innovative and visionary group.
“Australian radio is among the best in the world, and a leader in embracing today’s digital opportunity… OZ listeners now have a voice inside the radio conversation, on-mobile, on-social, on-line, on-air, on-demand, instantly in real-time 24/7.”
EON’s Soundmite innovation is an example of forward thinking technical development that will push live radio content more into the social audio space.
