Fawlty kick off for ACRAs

Commercial Radio Australia has confirmed a star-studded lineup for next month’s Australian Radio Conference at Luna Park in Sydney.

Headlining the conference will be comic genius John Cleese, best known for his work with Monty Python and as Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers.

Cleese’s big break, however, came through a writing position for BBC radio, and his keynote will recollect those early days in the medium, his experience in advertising and his views on creativity in life.

Other guests set to speak include ACCC chair Graham Samuels, on the future of radio in this country, and international speakers Dirk Anthony, Group Program Director of the UK’s Gcap Media on how to find and keep great talent, and Jim Cook, Senior Vice President of Creative at Clear Channel Radio USA on how to get a message through in a noisy world, and more.

Panel discussions also planned for the event include one featuring financial analysts who will discuss radio revenue going forward, and another that will fast forward to the year 2010 and explore future roles and relationships between radio and the Internet. There will also be a panel examining digital radio developments with experts in multimedia content and technology.

The conference takes place on Friday, 13 October and is expected to attract over 400 delegates. To book an ACRA’s ticket click below.
