All The Best and fbi.radio have relaunched the Jesse Cox Audio Fellowship, an opportunity for four upcoming artists with a connection to Australia to accelerate their audio career. Each receive $1000 to create a feature length audio story, with an individualised learning program and a national broadcast outcome.
From 2020 to 2022, the fellowship was established by the friends and family of the late Jesse Cox (pictured above) to honour his impact on Australian audio storytelling and support mid-career audio makers to produce adventurous work. Jesse started at fbi.radio Sydney and co-founded the storytelling program All The Best. He went on to work for ABC Radio National and was head of Original Content at Audible’s APAC Office, constantly pushing boundaries and fostering new talent.
Previous recipients of the fellowship include Patrick Abboud (2020), Jay Ooi (2021) and Christine ‘Kix’ Mwaturura (2022).
The revised Fellowship returns to the community radio sector and will sit alongside All The Best’s existing mentorship and educational outreach programs that support first-time and developing audio story creators and tellers. This Fellowship cohort will be selected by January 2025 and also receive industry-specific mentor and curated masterclasses customised to the skills and artistic challenges connected to their project.
The final works will be broadcast on fbi.radio, the Community Radio Network and spotlighted at an audio community live listening event at the end of 2025.
All The Best is made possible by support from the Community Broadcasting Foundation and Art Gallery of NSW. To further support this fellowship donations can be directed to All The Best via the fbi.radio donation page. Please include the note ‘JCAF / ATB’ to direct your donation.
