Order in the House, a new podcast created by four university students from Sydney who want to inform millennial Australians about political ideologies in an engaging and relatable way, launches Wednesday January 27.
Hosts Pnina Hagege (21) and Lara Czysnok (21) were motivated by a culture of political indifference that they believe is rife in their generation. They created the project after meeting as participants of the Susan Wakil Fellowship a political and social action program for students.
Hagege said, “There exists a daunting gap in political knowledge for young Aussies, forcing us to self-educate. But we don’t believe this burden should be carried by young people when voting is such an imperative and compulsory exercise of our democracy. We’re here to give you the rundown on stuff they don’t teach you in High School,”.
Czysnok said, “We felt there was an overwhelming narrative that people were voting like their parents simply because they were disillusioned and disenfranchised by politics and traditional news outlets.
“Our motto, ‘we don’t care who you vote for, as long as it is an informed vote’ strives to bridge the gap between young people and political information to equip all our listeners for any lively dinner discussion,”.
Hagege and Czysnok worked with producers Abigail Kaplan (23) and Julia Meltzer (23), who they worked with throughout 2020 preparing the podcast.
