Fine Music 102.5 secures Australian Cello Awards

Fine Music 102.5 has secured official broadcast rights to the Australian Cello Awards.

The awards will be broadcast live from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music from 3pm to 6.30pm on Sunday 30 March 2014.

General Manager of Fine Music 102.5, Liz Terracini, said that the awards would be one of the highlights of the station’s 2014 recording schedule. “Last year we recorded over 70 classical and jazz events, and we always take particular pleasure in including emerging performers and giving them exposure through our broadcasts. We can expect to hear three exceptional live mini recitals from the cellists contesting this final.”

Terracini said the calibre of the organisers and adjudicators was of the highest level. “The Awards represents a wonderful advancement for the promotion of classical music. Kudos to Roland Gridiger – the instigator of this event – he has certainly drawn the highest level of endorsement and support from outstanding identities such as John Painter, Catherine Hewgill and Susan Blake.”

The Australian Cello Awards has attracted a $60,000 prize purse and the final follows months of auditions and performances in Sydney and London.  The finalists are Yelian He (Australia), Edward King (New Zealand) and Ruben Palma (Australia)
