Live from Big Ted Arena

If you’re in to tennis, there’s no better place to be at the moment than Melbourne.

Despite the extraordinary heatwave in Melbourne, the Australian Open is grabbing the attention of the city.

From 3pm each weekday, tennis aficionado and 774 ABC presenter Lindy Burns is doing a special State-wide Drive program – live from the ABC’s “Big Ted Area” at Melbourne Park.

Lindy will work side by side with the Grandstand commentary team who will provide live broadcasts of games as well as courtside reporting for the duration of the tournament.

Visitors to the Australian Open can drop in to the 774 ABC Melbourne marquee, named the ‘Big Ted Arena’ for the Open. It’s located at Garden Square and open daily from 12 noon.

Following the Drive Show, Grandstand’s Gerard Whately hosts ‘At The Net’ from 6pm, a half hour program that will look at the stories and significant moments from the day, followed by Grandstand’s evening coverage of the 2014 Australian Open.

Next week sees a return to regular programming for 774, with the exception of Lindy Burns who will continue to present Drive for the second week of the Tennis,  Additionally, afternoons with Richard Stubbs and the Conversation Hour with Jon Faine will each be presented live from Big Ted Arena.
