Fireworks for Canberra, SCA and the Super Radio Network

This morning’s announcement of something big happening at Mix 106.3 and Hit 104.7 (joint owned by SCA and ARN) was that Skyfire, the ACT fireworks show, is back. Great if you’re a kid in the Capital, but not the bang for your buck that some radio people were anticipating.

Of more note is after yesterday’s news that ARN’s takeover bid might be stymied by a breach of the Corporations Act and with Network Ten apparently not wanting SCA’s television stations (AFR – subscription required) if they were to be sold off,  SCA has shown signs of springing into action themselves.

Industry sources have said there are gatherings of staff of SCA and of the Bill Caralis owned Super Radio Network to happen today. Again this could all be further smoke, mirrors and faulty fireworks like the ARN takeover bid (so far) and the 2019 Canberra Skyfire.

But this also could really be something explosive.
