Fireworks, free production and footy aids flood victims

Stations and radio production companies continue to do their bit to help flood victims. In the latest information on flood activities, Abe’s Audio has waived voiceover and production fees for any flood fund raisers, 3BA Ballarat is planning to dedicate its Australia Day firewoirks display to benefit flood victims and Triple M is mounting a special State of Origin match, with Triple M personalities also playing.

A note from Abe’s Audio production house says: “Like you, we were gobsmacked at the recent flood devastation in Queensland and more recently Victoria, and to a lesser extent Tasmania and South Australia. One of our producers lives in Toowoomba and was updating us as water tore through the town. (Remarkably, he didn’t even loose his internet connection!)

“So if a station is producing an ad or require audio to help promote a flood relief benefit event or fund-raiser, we’ll voice and produce the track at no charge. No problem. We want to do our little bit to help people get back on their feet.”

And in Ballarat, 3BA’s  21st annual Skyworks display on Wednesday January 26th will be dedicated to all flood victims across the country.

“Australia Day celebrations in Ballarat are a time when we come together as a community and celebrate everything that’s great about, not only Australia, but also Ballarat,” 3BA General Manager John Fitzgibbon told radioinfo.

“This year the effects of the floods have touch everyone in some way, so it’s a chance to reflect and take comfort in the fact that it’s the Australian values of mateship and lending a hand that enables us to overcome any challenges that we face as a community and as a nation. We are planning a special tribute to the victims of the floods to be aired just prior to the Skyworks, but we encourage everybody to take the time and enjoy the show.  It’s hopefully a positive and bright moment in what has been a very dark couple of weeks.”

3BA has joined forces with The Courier and The City of Ballarat to allow the people of Ballarat to help in a very practical way. A collection point will be established at next to the Ballarat Yacht Club on Australia Day to accept donations. There will also be a registration point for skilled and trades people to volunteer their services to help flood victims. All goods and funds raised will be utilised by UnitingCare, Anglicare, St Vincent De Paul and Salvation Army to assist families in the greater Ballarat area.
