Fitzy celebrates ten years on NOVA

Congratulations to Ryan Fitzgerald, otherwise known as “Fitzy” from Fitzy & Wippa on NOVA, who celebrates ten years at the network today.

Fitzgerald is a former Australian rules footballer who found instant fame on reality TV show Big Brother in 2004, finishing fourth. His vibrant personality and hilarious antics saw him move effortlessly into media, appearing on Channel 10’s Saturday night AFL show Before The Game before moving on to radio.

He started off as co-host of the Adelaide NOVA 91.9 breakfast show, continuing his TV work on Big Brother Australia and Big Brother spin-offs Friday Night Live and Friday Night Games.

In October 2010, he announced he’d be leaving NOVA 91.9 to move to Sydney and join NOVA 96.9 on Drive, creating the instantly successful Fitzy & Wippa show with Michael Wipfli. They were promoted to Breakfast and the rest, as they say, is history.

Fitzgerald makes regular appearances on The Project and Before The Game. He’s even made his acting debut on the Nine Network on popular drama House Husbands, playing a bouncer at a strip club.

He married Belinda Irons on 15 March 2008 and they have two sons.

Fitzy & Wippa re-signed with dmg Radio for four years in 2013 in a multi-million dollar deal.
