Flint Defends Jones and Laws on Attard’s Sunday Profile

In a must hear program, former ABA Chairman, David Flint, comes to the defence of Alan Jones and John Laws and sheds further light on ‘cash for comment’ on today’s ‘Sunday Profile’ on ABC Local Radio.

Flint tells Monica Attard he believes the ABA restrictions on broadcasters after the cash for comment inquiry were “far too precise”.

In reference to Jones, he says: “I think you can go too far”.

Flint also defends Laws, saying he was unfairly treated by the inquiry, as he only made “technical slips”.

The Flint interview is a coup for Attard, who has been back on ABC radio only for two weeks. She scored an interview with the Prime Minister to launch the 2005 series of ‘Sunday Profile’.

Attard recently returned to Australia after a year long residence in Russia.

She has two decades of news’ experience, an understanding of Australian life and the world of international politics, an appreciation of what Australians want to know, and a perspective on where Australia stands in the world.

Attard is also the recipient of four Walkley Awards including a Gold Award for Excellence in Journalism. Her last Walkley was for interviews conducted on Sunday Profile, which airs at 9pm (AEST).
