FM for Yarraman QLD

The ABA has decided to make FM channel capacity available for a community radio service at Yarraman in Queensland.

Operating on 99.7FM, applications will be called for at a later date. A just released variation to the radio licence area plan for Kingaroy is available from the ABA website (www.aba.gov.au) or by calling 1 800 226 667.

The Yarraman and District Historical Society Inc (YDHS) has been keen to get a permanent community broadcasting licence, after serving the town of Yarraman with a temporary since July 2002.

The ABA feels the new permanent community radio service will attract applications.

The ABA determined the Kingaroy licence area plan in October 1998, designating the populations of the Kingaroy commercial and Gayndah, Cherbourg and Wondai community radio broadcasting licences, using 1996 Census figures. The licence areas have since been designated using 2001 Census figures.
