Free online digital radio training modules

Digital Radio Australia has developed a range of free training tutorials for program makers and retailers. The tutorials are available online at the Digital Radio website.

The initiative recognises the important role retailers will play at the point of sale and aims to give them the information they will need to sell digital radios to customers after they hear promotions and advertisements on radio. It also targets car sales people who will progressively add digital car radios to their list of options as they sell new cars.

The tutorials will also be useful to producers and announcers discussing digital radio on air, radio salespeople and copywriters selling the concepts of digital radio to advertisers, and anyone in the radio station who wants to know more about digital radio as the switch on date approaches.

A recent session at the National Radio Conference, hosted by Peter Blessina, reinforced the need for point of sale retailers and radio people to work together in promoting the sale of new receivers to avoid the kind of customer confusion that happened when digital tv was introduced a few years ago.

Each free tutorial has been specifically designed to highlight the important features and benefits of digital radio as it relates to various areas of interest for: Radio Station professionals, Retailers, Manufacturers, Car Manufacturers and Advertisers. There are also a number of free downloads to use when selling the concept of digital radio. The Australian radio industry has learnt form the mistakes of other countries and has been doing detailed planning to make sure the launch of the new transmission technology is well planned and executed as the industry moves towards the May switch on date next year.
