A French revolution for Alexa

With an expected 95 million smart speakers to be sold in 2019, France’s RadioKing have launched a customisable Alexa Skill available to all radio stations.

RadioKing says “Some radio stations, such as Nation Radio, Kiss FM and iHeart, have taken the lead by creating exclusive skills (voice applications) developed for Alexa. In response to the increase in digital listening, RadioKing is offering all radio stations, including online stations, their own Alexa Skill for $119 per year.”

The RadioKing custom skill will allow Alexa to launch a radio station stream and the team have added a complementary voice command to allow listeners to know the current title, Alexa, ask (station name), what is the current title.

Alexa will then rely on the given metadata to announce the song title to the listener.

Based in the north of France, RadioKing’s team is composed of around twenty people passionate about Radio and the Web and the company currently hosts over 2,500 radios in 120 countries.

The platform offers turnkey services to support radios in their digital development.
