Starting a new radio gig can be a daunting experience. Show me somebody who hasn’t made a mistake in their first week on the job.
But those classic ‘office newbie’ moments – which might make us cringe at the time – often end up being the experiences we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives.
In the case of Nova 919’s Molly Rose, they also happen to make outstanding brekky show content!

Molly’s very memorable moment came in February, when she began her new gig as producer for the Jodie and Hayesy breakfast show in Adelaide.
When Prime Minister Anthony Albanese rang the show, Molly mistook him for a prankster and put him on hold … for five minutes.
Molly went into the studio, telling Jodie and Hayesy there was a Fringe Festival performer on the phone, impersonating the PM.
Then the the realisation dawned: It was, in fact, Albo himself on the line … and he was still on hold.
All was forgiven this week, though, when Molly and the PM met face-to-face in the studio for the first time since that first-week faux pas, sharing a laugh and a hug.

“You’re a real person after all!” Molly laughed.
“I am. Who knew?” Albo replied.
Apologising to the PM, Molly joked that she hadn’t slept since the incident.
But Albo wasn’t fazed about it.
“It was actually a bit of fun,” he said.
In his on-air chat with Jodie and Hayesy, the PM said “Sometimes (when I ring people) … they’ll go, is that really you? And you go, yeah.”
Albo, who’s the first to admit he has a distinctive voice, also revealed that he shunned the advice of experts who told him to get voice training.
“I am who I am,” he said. “I sound like a Catholic kid from Camperdown in Sydney!”
Of their in-studio encounter, Molly said Albo was a really good sport, and now the two of them are great mates.
“He was just a super lovely, down to earth guy who knows how to have a laugh.”
