Gamechanger Maz Compton: I felt I was letting everyone down

Maz Compton began her radio career in 2001 producing Merrick & Rosso (Merrick Watts and Tim Ross), and then moved to MTV for five years.

She then launched The Dan & Maz Show with Dan Debuf, which ran in breakfast (on Nova Adelaide in 2011-2012), drive (Fox Melbourne 2013-2014), breakfast (on 2Dayfm Sydney) and national drive (on SCA 2015).

In 2017 she published her first book, UnEdited, and launched a new breakfast show, Alt-breakfast.

In the latest Gamechanger podcast, Maz opens up to Craig Bruce about how hard it was on 2Day FM breakfast, telling him

“From what I know, you guys had offered Hamish and Andy their drive show back and so what choice did I have? It was: ‘Can you do Sydney breakfast or there isn’t a job for you.”

Compton struggled to deal with the pressure of the high profile job.

“I put the weight of the world on my shoulders… I was carrying this load of: ‘I’ve got to succeed or I’m letting everyone down. If this doesn’t work I’m letting down Dan, all of our producers, my manager who had sadly passed away months before … I felt like I was letting everyone down.”
