Georgie Gardner presents her final 9News Sydney bulletin this evening, Friday April 17, after nearly a quarter of a century with the network.
She started in radio at 2NX in Newcastle NSW as a news cadet back in 1992 before joining 2Day FM in 1994 as their newsreader. Since then she has been a fixture of Sydney’s television news scene.
Speculation about where Gardner’s career might take her next includes back to radio, but with her Nine salary estimated at $600K, there would be few currently who could afford that.
Another Georgie, Georgie Tunny (pictured main), has also been announced to join KIIS Breakfast from next Monday April 20, alongside Mike E and Brooklyn who are currently in the chair after the departure of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson.
Georgie is already part of ARN as a co-host of Two Good Sports podcast as well as being part of the iHeart Women’s Sports Network. She is also the anchor of Network 10’s weekend news.
Because of the the other commitments, Georgie gets a later start and will be heard from 7-9am on KIIS 1065 and KIIS 1011, or via the iHeart app, from Monday April 20 – Friday April 24.
