Global Media Peace Awards 2025: winners list

The Global Media Peace Awards 2025 were celebrated in Montreal on February 11, 2026, recognizing excellence in journalism, media innovation, and peace‑oriented storytelling.

The ceremony brought together leading media professionals, industry figures, and global advocates to honour outstanding achievements that promote conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and responsible reporting.

 The event emphasized the transformative role of media in fostering understanding and constructive dialogue across communities.

This year’s winners demonstrated exceptional dedication, integrity, and creativity, setting new benchmarks for journalism and media excellence. Their work spanned investigative reporting on critical social issues, innovative platforms encouraging cross‑cultural engagement, and initiatives empowering communities through factual and ethical storytelling. Selected from a highly competitive pool of nominees, each recipient was recognized for measurable contributions to global peace and understanding.

All the award winners expressed that “being acknowledged at the Global Media Peace Awards is a profound honour,” noting that the recognition affirms the power of committed journalism and storytelling in raising awareness and driving positive change.

The awards continue to inspire media professionals to uphold truth, inclusivity, and responsibility while encouraging ongoing innovation and collaboration toward a more peaceful and informed society.

During the ceremony, Kyung Hee Kim, Bob Collins, and Rebecca Handson, chairpersons of the Radio, Television, and Digital Media juries, presented the work of thirty‑two jurors who spent months evaluating more than 200 entries from around the world.

In the Radio category:

First prize went to Love Is All There Is! The Courage of Dorothea Neff, produced by Jürgen Pettinger with support from Ernestine Arnold.

The second prize was awarded to A Weapon of Division or Bridge to Peace?, produced by Hendri Setiawan Halawa from Radio Republik Indonesia under the coordination of Hendri Setiawan Halawa.

The third prize recognized Cameroon Anglophone Crisis: Breeding a Generation of Unlettered Youths, produced by Effande Lyonga Larry Jr.

In the Television category, first prize went to Gaza’s Missing, produced by Zümrüt Sönmez for TRT World. The second prize honoured The Peacemakers: The Women Bringing Peace to Mindanao, produced by Au Yong May Lin with executive producer Ng Yuina of CNA, MediaCorp Singapore, alongside Mas Supahat. Third place was awarded to Fearless Women on the Frontline during the 2024 Anti Finance Bill Protests, produced by Rosa Agutu.

In the Digital Media category, the first prize went to Building Memory: Writing, Commitment, and Memory, produced by New Media S.L. by Maite Ibañez and Ainhoa Aizpurua Oyarbide. Second place recognized Fighting Women, directed by Meritxell Feixas Torras of 3Cat and coordinated by Johanna Van Spaandonk Kanakaki. The third prize was awarded to Nostos: Stories of Veterans Coming Home, led by executive producer Oleksandra Zakharchenko, chief producer Victoria Murovana, and coordinator Valeria Levchenko. The jury also issued a commendation for Echoes of Terror, 10 Years On: Mpeketoni Residents Still Live in Unease, produced by Rosa Agutu.
