In 48 hours last week, the Christian O’Connell Show at GOLD104.3 in Melbourne raised over a quarter of a million dollars for Backpack 4 VIC Kids .

Listeners have donated $255,000 for the small Melbourne charity and Christian was overwhelmed by the generosity of his listeners.

Last Wednesday he reached out to listeners asking them to support the charity that puts the backpacks together, with the volunteers providing essential items for children that are rescued from dangerous situations.

With an appreciation of how tough Melburnians have been doing it over many months, the initial goal was to raise just $1,500, enough for 20 backpacks at a cost of $75 each.

Christian says, “It’s amazing the money people have raised. It’s incredible. On behalf of me, Jack and Patsy thank you very much.”
