Good Morning East Timor – you’re waking up to Dicko!

vega 91.5fm’s Ian “Dicko” Dickson is about to embark on a tour of duty to entertain our troops serving in East Timor when he broadcasts from the region
later this month.

Dicko will be joined by legendary vocalist Ian
Moss
, singer and Australian Idol finalist Mark
Spano
and comedians Lawrence Mooney and
Jeff Green to perform four shows for troops in
various areas across Timor.

Brigadier Bill Sowry, the Commander in Chief in East Timor explained the importance of the tour to the vega 91.5 breakfast audience saying, “The troops patrol, provide security, set up medical clinics, work on reconstruction and train the local
defence force. They are normally away from four to eight months. By the time
you (Dicko) and the performers get there, they would have served two months and
will really appreciate some Australian entertainment.”

Dicko will broadcast the breakfast show
from East Timor while his co-hosts Dave O’Neil and Chrissie Swan
remain in vega 91.5fm’s Richmond studios.

Dicko says, “I’ve been a long time admirer of the Australian Armed Forces. As
one of our newer citizens, I was thrilled and honoured to be picked as part of
a team whose job it will be to go out and support the men and women
serving our nation overseas.”

This week Dicko and Dave have participated in boot camp and drill sessions to
appreciate some of the training the Defence personnel put recruits through
and organised a game of paint ball with listeners to test their skills in the
field.

Hopefully the only thing anyone will be holding to Dicko’s head in East Timor will be a microphone.
