‘Good music and relevant talk’ at student station 2RS

All this week, seven students from this year’s AFTRS Graduate Diploma in Radio Broadcasting are on air with Radio2RS live from the Sydney studios of the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

The brief was to find a gap in Sydney’s radio airwaves and then design and build a radio format to meet it. The students have researched and chosen to address “the forgotten market segment of busy 30-40 year olds who are getting on with their lives.

The station delivers radio “reflecting your lifestyle with engaging content on-air
and on-line plus music you wish you could hear more.”

The team have built “Radio2RS – Your Music Your Life” from scratch, taking on the roles of Station Manager, Production Manager, Executive Producer, Assistant
Executive Producer, Music Director, Production Manager and On-line Content Manager. All are going to air as announcers, producers and members
of the news team.

2RS is a Sydney-based internet radio station “dedicated to bringing listeners
good music and relevant talk.” The 2RS team covers everything from news,
arts and culture, the environment and health with a soundtrack of artists like
The Smiths, The Go-Betweens, Massive Attack and Lisa Mitchell.

2RS is being streamed live and can be accessed at www.radio2rs.com.
