Good news is more news for Geelong

Beginning on December 1st, Geelong, Bellarine and the Surf Coast will for the first time have access to up-to-the-minute live local and national news 7 days a week, following the expansion of the K rock and bay 93.9 news team.

The move will allow newsmakers and emergency services across Geelong greater access to the region’s top news service, ensuring that important stories can be delivered quickly and accurately right across the weekend.

Geelong Broadcasters News Director Rob Mclennan said a recent Roy Morgan survey revealed 45.5% of Australians nominate radio as their main news source.

Rob says “The news team is really excited at the prospect of being able to expand Geelong’s most trusted and up-to-date news coverage to seven days a week.”

The expansion was made possible by the radio station’s recent move into state-of-the-art studios in Moorabool Street that are equipped with the very latest digital news and broadcasting technology.

General Manager, Andy Mathers says, “Our journalists live and breathe news and are totally committed to providing Geelong’s only 7-day local, national and overseas news service. After our recent success at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards, this is yet more exciting news for our loyal listeners, community and advertising partners.

“Geelong Broadcasters takes its reputation as the region’s most-trusted news outlet very seriously, and that’s demonstrated by this considerable new investment in the newsroom,”
