Gremlins in our email system

Today we had a problem with our email invoicing.

Some of you may have received one (and sometimes more) incorrect reminder emails.

Sorry about that!

Most of those reminders were not correct, your payment is probably up to date.

If you are in doubt, please contact [email protected] to clarify your account status.

Our IT team has looked into it and informs us that is was a ‘rogue cron job run.’

A what… ?  Anyway, they’re on to it.

Apparently this, and a couple of other issues we have had lately, are the result of our success. Our traffic has almost doubled this year and we are publishing more reports than ever, but that success has put extra load on our server. We are in the process of fixing it.

Thanks to all the readers who pointed out the error, we appreciate that you care enough to alert us to the problem. Like the message in your probably have in your standby tape: “We hope normal service will be resumed shortly!”
