Harman Radio celebrates 20 years

Harman Radio represents much more more than Bhangra Beats and Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani) for Australia’s fast growing-Punjabi Community.

In June 2005 farmer and entrepreneur Amandeep Singh Sidhu felt there had to be a platform for Punjabi and Punjabiat voices. He set up the voluntarily run Harman Radio in Coffs Harbour as Woolgoolga was the site of the first Punjabi / Indian settlement in Australia. Now the station’s main studio is in Coffs Harbour, there’s a second studio in Melbourne and their digital station is available nationwide.  Media Sales Representative Spots & Space have just began representing Harman Radio for advertising sales.

The station’s mission is to develop and promote Punjabi values, culture and language in their new multicultural home. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS Census 2016-2021) Punjabi is Australia’s fastest growing language, surging by 80% to reach 239,033 nationally. Punjabi is now the 5th most spoken language at home in Australia (after English, Mandarin, Arabic, and Vietnamese).
