Heart 107.3 to the rescue

Heart 107.3’s Dave and Kylie have come to the rescue of a family plagued with unimaginable battles by completely renovating their house and documenting it across radio and television.

Dave and Kylie first heard of the Holmes family when a friend phoned into their breakfast show with the unbelievable story of chronic-illness, heart-break and constant stress all while living in an un-renovated shed.

The Holmes family’s battle with Danon’s disease has already claimed the life of their eldest son, Simon, at just 18. Youngest son Alex who is just 14, is also fighting the disease, undergoing a heart transplant just 3 months ago and mum, Andrea is constantly in and out of hospital.

Danon’s disease is a debilitating condition associated with heart muscle abnormalities and weakness.

Clennett’s Mitre 10 teamed up with Heart 107.3 and the Rescue with Heart became not only a reality on radio, but a half hour TV special to be broadcast on Southern Cross Television this Friday night.

The week long renovation blitz took place last week and saw over 100 volunteers and tradesmen working on the project to completely renovate the kitchen, living space, laundry storage area, bathroom and patio.

After a week’s holiday, the Holmes family arrived home yesterday to a crowd of their closest friends and family and all the suppliers and tradesmen who performed the renovation.

Heart 107.3’s Dave Noonan said:

“The anticipation of the crowd before the Holmes family arrived was electric as everyone knew what an amazing change this would bring to a family who has had it so, so rough”

Co-host Kylie Baxter said:

“The family’s reaction and gratitude was overwhelming. There were definitely tears from a lot of people that morning and will be even more when the Rescue with Heart TV Special airs.”

The TV special will be broadcast on Southern Cross Television Friday October 16 at 8.30pm.
