Help Joel find his Voice

Melbourne radio broadcaster and musician, Joel Carnegie has been named as a Top 48 finalist as part of a competition in conjunction with Channel 9’s The Voice. If successful in the competition, he will be given the opportunity to study a course at the London Business School and meet contestants and coaches from the popular television program.

 

“Grass roots music and arts projects are really exciting. As someone who has been  broadcasting for some time now, supporting local Australian talent is something which is really important to me. As a passionate supporter and broadcaster of the Australian arts and music scene, I strongly believe that we can do more to promote Australian arts and music to the world. How we do this in the future is up to us,” he says.

 

Joel Carnegie is currently the Operations Manager at 3MBS 103.5FM Melbourne.  

 

In 2008 he started his radio career by joined the MBS network as a presenter / producer, obtaining a Certificate III in Broadcasting. After burning the candles as a presenter/producer for the midnight – 2am shift and working on many programs on 3MBS (103.5FM, 3MBS Digital, & online platforms) in Melbourne, he became the Saturday morning presenter & producer of “Music in Melbourne” at the far more respectable time of 10 am.

 

He obtained a Graduate Diploma of Arts (Media & Communications) from Swinburne University of Technology in 2009 and  produced Breakfast and other content for ABC Ballarat, including the ABC Ballarat Summer Breakfast Portraits series. 

In 2010, he was seen on Channel 31′s Breakfast Program “Get Cereal” (SYN production) @ 7.40am every Friday morning, with expert analysis, interviews, reviews and other such things related to the arts.music.culture.life.etc show. He has also assisted on the Neil Mitchell’s 3AW program.

 

Joel has hosted and produced a variety of talks programs on 3MBS, including The Weekend Score and Tropic Island Discs. He has produced live-to-air performance based programs, including Musical Portraits and 3MBS’s new digital only program Sketching Impressions.

 

In addition to Joel’s broadcasting background, he is also an experienced arts and events director and administrator, and musician.

He  completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the University of Melbourne in 2008, specialising in Music Performance.  In 2010 – 2011, he worked at the Faculty of the VCA and Music, The University of Melbourne, within the divisions of the VCA (Southbank Campus) and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (Parkville Campus).
