If you were at last Sunday’s Dockers Vs Collingwood game, you would have seen the romance unfold as WA man, Matthew, executed a perfectly planned proposal to his lady, with a little help from hit92.9 and Fremantle Dockers.
Setting the standard high for men everywhere, Matthew organised an elaborate plan to propose to his now-fiancé, Sarah, during a Dockers game at Domain Stadium, a location very special to the happy couple.
“Our first date was at Domain Stadium,” explained Matthew.
“I took her to my work Christmas function, which was in a corporate box.”
Sarah, who has enjoyed 2.5 years with her Romeo, thought she was taking part in a competition that Matthew had originally won, under the impression he wasn’t even in town.
She had no idea that while she was playing ‘Guess That Song’ with hit92.9’s afternoon announcer, Ty, Matthew was secretly waiting behind her on bended knee.
“I actually stuffed that part, I bent a knee too early.” Matthew said.
A fair amount of work goes in to most marriage proposals, but Matthew had taken planning to a whole new level, revealing his ideal proposal was in the works for 14 months.
“I contacted the Dockers last year but we couldn’t work the date,” he said.
“So I tried again this year and they helped me lock in a corporate box package about four weeks out.”
Because the man himself does indeed think of everything, after Sarah cried her way through a big “yes,” the happy couple went back to a corporate box that was packed with her family and best friends waiting to celebrate with her.
“None of this would have been possible without Kellie from the Fremantle Dockers and hit92.9,” said Matthew.
