Hoping for a van filled with cans

Throughout September, Hope 103.2 listeners all across Sydney are stepping up to make a very tangible difference in the lives of people doing it tough in our community.

With your help Hope 103.2 will be stocking the Can Van with non-perishable food and toiletry items to distribute through our friends at Anglicare and Parramatta Mission.

“Anglicare Sydney’s financial assistance to low income families has increased 73% over the last seven years ’s.   Our non perishable food items easily disappear off the shelves,” says Sue King, Anglicare Sydney Director of Advocacy and Research.

“We have eight emergency relief centres across Sydney and the Illawarra.  Toiletries and food supplies are regularly depleted.  We especially need to replace groceries that in themselves make up a meal, like a pasta bake or a rice dish.”

To be a part of bringing some love and hope to those in urgent need, simply buy a few non-perishable items on your next shopping trip and drop them off at the Hope 103.2 studios at 2 Leabons Lane, Seven Hills during weekday business hours (9am – 5pm)

The Can Van will be at the studios throughout September, and will travel with Aaron and Dan from the Hope 103.2 Breakfast Team, to Black Stump Festival across the October Long Weekend.

What can you pack into the Can Van? (It doesn’t have to be a can):

•         Warm blankets
•         Tinned goods: pasta sauces, soup, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, baby food etc
•         Dry goods: pasta, rice, breakfast cereal
•         Drinks: tea, coffee, long-life milk, fruit juice
•         Toiletries: soap, toilet paper, tissues, toothpaste, nappies etc.
