Hot Tomato ripens and Gold shines in latest Gold Coast survey

In the latest Gold Coast/Tweed survey, released today, all local Gold Coast commercial stations recorded growth, while triple j and local ABC station 91.7 slipped. Hot Tomato gained most this survey, closing in on rival SEA FM, with Gold FM still well in front at number one position in the market.

First placed Gold FM scored 19.2% overall, up 1.5 share points on last survey. Southern Cross Media stablemate SEA FM was in second place, up 0.5 to 16.7%. Hot Tomato gained 1.9 share points to 13.9% in third place. Fourth placed ABC 91.7 slipped 0.5 share points to 5.4%, jusr ahead of Brisbane local ABC station 612, which is heard in the market. ABC612 gained 1.9 share points to 5.3%.

Fifth placed triple j lost most this survey, dropping 3.5 share points to 4.1% overall. Classic FM scored 2.2%, down 0.1 on last survey, Radio National was 2.1%, down 1.4, B105 was 2.1%, up 1.0. Other Brisbane stations heard in the market scored less than 2%.

Sea FM’s Paul, Moyra and Baggs won breakfast after gaining 1.5 share points, just ahead of Richard and Bridge on Gold FM breakfast, which dropped 2.3 share points. Hot Tomato’s breakfast show with Paul Holmes and Sean Flanagan  increased by 1.6 share points in third place for that timeslot.

Gold won mornings, afternoons and drive, SEA won evenings and Gold won weekends.

102.9 Hot Tomato lifted well in the younger 10-39 demographics, but SEA FM still leads in those age groups. Gold FM won the 40+ age groups. Hot Tomato had the biggest overall increase in share across every session.

GOLD FM and SEA FM increasing their combined cumulative audience (CUME) to 270 200 people. During this survey, Sea FM’s Breakfast Show was simulcast live on Southern Cross Ten from the Gold Coast Media Centre.

The survey saw commercial radio listening increase by 7 800 listeners.
