Little has changed on the Gold Coast at first glance for GfK Survey 3. Hot Tomato is still number one and first in breakfast for Galey and Emily Jade. 92.5 Triple M was still second. The two SCA stations, Triple M and 90.9 Sea FM, saw their audiences drop from 14.0 to 12.8 and 11.1 to 9.4 respectively and now Sea FM sits fourth behind triple j.
This was a pretty good survey for the public broadcaster with triple j up 1.0, ABC Classic up 1.1 and the local ABC Gold Coast down for all audiences 10+ but up 0.4 in breakfast. 4RN was up 2.1 in breakfast too!
Sea FM will have a new breakfast team of Danny Lakey and Bronte Langbroek in 2024. Bianca Dye and Ben Hannant have and will leave. The news of the break up of the existing breakfast team came at the end of this survey period so it’s hard to tell if it impacted Sea FM or not. Certainly 7.2 of their audience between 10-17 fell away and they dropped behind Hot Tomato in the 25-39 demographic. We’ll see where Lakey and Langbroek sit this time next year.
Hot Tomato is the most listened to station in the cumes, Sea FM second.
Hot Tomato Content Director, Brendon “Whippy” Dangar, said:
“A team of underdogs delivering top dog results. We are so proud to maintain the number 1 position all year and it’s a result the whole team is so proud of. While we are a part of the best network in the country, we do everything on the air from our Southport studios and again the Gold Coast has gravitated to the only 100% locally made radio in the market. We will celebrate with our listeners tonight at the Cali Beach Club and one lucky Gold Coaster will be the real winner of the day, taking home $10,000.”
Finally, congratulations to Christo on Hot Tomato afternoons, up 2.7 to 18.9 – the highest percentage of audience of all surveyed.
