hot tomato top, Sea FM builds – GfK Survey 2 Gold Coast

In the second GfK survey of the Gold Coast in 2025, results were fairly steady with all the local commercial stations able to find positives.

1029 hot tomato retained their clear lead, No 1 in all day parts and weekends with the biggest growth to Olivia Scott‘s morning audience (+2.0 to 18.6) and the Big Kahuna in the evening having the most impressive audience of all (+1.2 to 23.0).

Both 90.9 Sea FM and 92.5 Triple M Gold saw growth to their breakfast audiences. Triple M’s new this year team of Leisel Jones, Liam and Spida also saw the best uptick in the cumes which bodes well for the show in the future. The station was down overall by 0.5 to a 12.3% audience share.

SCA will be happy with a 2% increase in their target 25-39 age group for Sea FM, poached from hot tomato. The networked Carrie and Tommy on Drive were up 2.5 to an 11.2% audience share alongside the growth for Bronte and Lakey on breakfast.

ABC Gold Coast unfortunately saw listeners fall away. Down 1.2 to now just a 4.9% audience share and -2.1 to 5.5 on breakfast, they now sit just ahead of Brisbane stations like Triple M 104.5 that are also recorded in this survey. There was significant gains for triple j with their 18-24 audience second largest now behind hot tomato.

Hot Tomato Content Director, Brendon “Whippy” Dangar, said:

“We came, we broadcast, we dominate. We’re super proud of the team and the results we have achieved. Big love to the team for keeping the radio Gods happy.”

Michael Harvey, ARN Chief Regional Officer, said:

“Hot Tomato’s continued success is a testament to the power of local connection – with audiences, clients, and community. It’s driven by a passionate, hardworking team who understand what matters most to the Gold Coast. This isn’t just about leading the ratings – it’s about consistently delivering great content and genuine results for our listeners and clients. That’s what this team does so well, day in and day out.”

SCA Head of Regional Content and Gold Coast General Manager, Blair Woodcock, said:

“Congratulations to our team on the Gold Coast on today’s fantastic result – we’re thrilled to once again see SCA as the #1 radio network on the Gold Coast.

Sea FM continue to grow the ‘Audience That Matters’ – the 25-54 demo – as Bronte Langbroek and Danny Lakey become the #2 Breakfast show in the demo. As Bronte & Lakey continue their search for the Gold Coast’s Best Teacher, they’re continuing to connect with localised, relevant content.

On Triple M Gold, we’re proud to see strong growth with 166,000 weekly listeners. The powerhouse Breakfast team of Leisel Jones, Liam & Spida, followed by The Rush Hour with Dobbo & Elliott, is clearly resonating with audiences and a testament to the hard work and consistency of the teams.”
