Hughesy and Kate start work at the tennis

What a way to start back to work after your summer holidays, turn up and the boss sends you to the tennis. Nova 100’s Hughesy & Kate returned to work this week with a live outside broadcast from Grand Slam Oval on Day 1 of Australian Open 2012.

The broadcast began Nova 100’s third year as FM partner for Melbourne’s most popular sporting event.

Hughesy & Kate reflected upon the colour and excitement of the Australian Open, while Nova 100 presented some of live music acts on Grand Slam Oval each night.

While at the Open, Hughesy and Kate decided to head over to the Optus Speed Serve tent to see how fast their service game was. Hughesy was adament he could crack 150 km/h, but Kate and Dan weren’t quite convinced. See the video here.

Nova announcers Kelli, Dylan, Aaron, Andie, and Nath are also broadcasting live from the event throughout the entire Australian Open 2012.

Hughesy said, “Being at Australian Open is a fantastic way to start what is going to be a great year, I can’t wait.”

The show has a new anchor this year, Dan Gawned. He has been part of Nova 969 Sydney’s Fitzy & Wippa breakfast team and most recently hosted Nova’s national Fresh Hits night show over the Summer.

The Open continues in Melbourne this week.
