Hughesy celebrates last birthday on air at Nova 100

Yesterday morning Hughesy celebrated his 43rd birthday with his on air and off family at the Nova studios, three days before Nova 100’s Hughesy and Kate’s Armageddon…Outta Here! final show on Friday 29 November.

Every birthday Hughesy’s wife Holly bakes him a themed cake and brings the children into the studio to celebrate. She has previously made a Red Bull cake, a fish and chips cake and this year she made a cake with a special message.

Upon delivery to the Nova studios, Holly got stuck in traffic so Hughesy and Kate had to speak to her and the kids on the phone.

Kate joked saying: “Your wife and children wanted to surprise you and they have in fact surprised you by not turning up. They were going to come in with a cake, there is no surprise in that as every year your beautiful wife Holly makes a cake, but today the surprise is her non presence.”

Holly, Hughesy’s son Rafferty and daughters – Sadie and Tess – arrived just after 9am to help Hughesy cut his cake and open his presents with his work mates.

This Friday Hughesy and Kate’s Armageddon…Outta Here! final show will be held at the Athenaeum theatre in Collins Street Melbourne from 6am. 850 listeners will hear Hughesy & Kate for the last time as Nova 100’s breakfast show. The show will be streamed live on the Nova website.

There will be many guests from their 12 years on air, performances by The Potbelleez and Kasey Chambers and many other surprises.
