iHeartRadio launches new apps

The Australian Radio Network has announced the launch of the iHeartRadio app on iPhone and Android, just in time for the lauch of the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas later this month.

Released ahead of schedule driven by the demand on the online service made available August 5, the mobile product extends the availability of the free, all-in-one digital radio service in Australia. The iHeartRadio mobile app has already been downloaded more than 210 million times in the US, making it one of the country’s most popular free apps.

ARN’s CEO Ciaran Davis said: “iHeartRadio is a free, incredibly easy to use service and the mobile app extends this experience allowing us to be everywhere our listeners are. This is our next step in bringing the world’s leading digital music service to market.”

ARN’s National Director for Digital and iHeartRadio Kate Beddoe adds: “We’ve made it a priority to develop the iHeartRadio app as quickly as possible so that Australian users can now access the music, stations and exclusive US content they love on their phones anywhere, anytime.”

The iHeartRadio app features includes:

  • Live Radio – Access more than 1,000 live stations from Australia, New Zealand and the US, including digital only stations spanning all genres.
  • Custom Stations – Create personalised stations by entering an artist or song from a library of over 16 million songs from 400,000 artists and iHeartRadio will create a station including similar music. Listeners can also ‘Thumbs Up’ or ‘Thumbs Down’ music to indicate song preference and further personalise stations.
  • Greater User Control – With iHeartRadio’s unique ‘Discovery Tuner’ listeners can adjust a Custom Station to play familiar songs – or select ‘Less Familiar’ to play a wider variety.
  • “Perfect For” Stations – Choose from thousands of curated stations based on a range of moods and activities that are perfect for any given time of day.
  • Sleep Timer – Fall asleep listening to live or Custom Stations. The Sleep Timer can be set in time increments from 15 minutes to 3 hours.

For the first time, Australian music fans will also have exclusive access to the September 20 and 21 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. The line-up includes Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney, Katy Perry, Elton John, Muse, Keith Urban, fun., Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Queen + Adam Lambert, and Robin Thicke.

iHeartRadio reached 20 million registered users faster than any digital service in internet history. It continues to be the No. 1 all-in-one digital service in the US with more than 60 million monthly unique users across its network. With a library of more than 16 million songs and 400,000 artists, iHeartRadio’s Custom Station feature offers listeners more music than any other service available.
