Controversial talk radio host Don Imus has been unceremoniously axed from the MSNBC Television Network.

Imus’ throwaway comments about the Rutgers womens college basketball team have bumped the Iraq War from the headlines in the US, and caused an outrage in middle America.

The New York based broadcaster had been suspended for two weeks from his nationwide simulcast by NBC management, however the reaction has forced executives to drop the show completely.

There is no word yet from CBS Radio on the fate of the radio show.
