The Pick Up’s Laura Byrne is due with baby #3 in the coming weeks and announced today on the KIIS Network show she co-hosts with Brittany Hockley her maternity leave replacement will be none other than her own husband, Matty J.

Matty takes over from Monday October 6 with the Two Doting Dads podcaster telling listeners they can expect to ‘find out a lot more about Laura’ than they anticipated plus keep everyone up to date with bub’s arrival.

LAURA BYRNE: Well, look, I think we have dragged it out long enough. We do actually have the replacement Laura Byrne here in studio sitting right next to me. And drum roll please. The new host of The Pick Up is Matty J.

MATTY J: It’s so good to be here. Laura, get out the door. This is my place now!

LAURA BYRNE: We did keep it as close to home as humanly possible. We decided just to get my husband to fill in.

MATTY J: The interview process was very rigorous.

LAURA BYRNE: They did as if we could all do a chemistry test to see if you have [chemistry] and I was like, I am married to the man. I think we have some chemistry.

MATTY J: That’s why we had sex, isn’t it? I’m in!

LAURA BYRNE: I was trying to bring on labour. I’m like, get this baby out.

MATTY J: I need to double check, when do I actually start?

LAURA BYRNE: Well, I mean, I’m having the baby on, we’re hoping Tuesday. We are. I think I’m getting induced. We can’t be sure. It could happen in the next few days.

MATTY J: I don’t need your life story. I just need to know what date I’m going to start.

LAURA BYRNE: You don’t even know what day we’re having this baby! How many times have you asked?

MATTY J: No, because it keeps changing. The goal posts are forever moving so I can’t keep track!

BRITTANY HOCKLEY: It can’t move that much!

MATTY J: It is. That week – gosh.
