Jim Beatson moving on from CBAA

CBAA Program Services Manager Jim Beatson is moving on after 11 years at the helm of the community broadcasting sector’s satellite program service.

When Beatson took on the role in 1995 the community radio sector’s satellite platform was only 2 years old and the program distribution service ComRadSat was in its infancy. It was Beatson who worked with sector bodies, stations
and program producers to build the service up to the level it is today.
The Community Radio Network is now providing a high quality source of programs and
content on a digital distribution platform to over 180 stations and the service now also delivers content via a digital delivery and storage system, called DDN, as well as live program feeds.

The CBAA’s General Manager Barry Melville says Beatson’s contribution to the sector is “immense” and that he is a “creative planner, talented
problem-solver and a tireless innovator.”

“ We all wish him the very best for the next stage of his career,” says Melville.

A send off for Beatson will be held on Friday 21st of July. Contact the CBAA for details.
