Jim Trail retires after a career of over four decades

ABC Digital Product’s man in Canberra, Jim Trail, has retired after 35 years at the ABC.

Jim’s career in radio that stretches back 40 years, with almost 35 of them at the ABC after joining 2CN Canberra in 1988 as an audio operator.

After a stint with RN as a technical producer at Parliament House, he moved into triple j before heading back to Canberra to work in Master Control, then as a cross media reporter for ABC Canberra, winning an award from Cycling Australia for his coverage of the 2009 World Mountain Bike Championships in Canberra.

Jim then took some time away from the ABC to work as a reporter for SBS as part of their Tour de France coverage in 2010.

By the middle that year the ABC’s transformation to a digital media organisation was underway and Jim helped to migrate the very first radio websites for ABC Radio capital cities.

When the Digital Product division was created he found his way into the Audio product team.
