Super Radio Network (SRN) have announced today the appointment of Joan Warner (pictured at the 2016 National Radio Conference), as Chair of the Board of Directors of each of the various companies that make up the network.
Warner has extensive experience in the commercial radio and media industry as the former CEO of Commercial Radio and Audio (CRA) for over twenty years.
Director of the SRN George Caralis said:
“We are delighted to welcome Joan to Super Radio Network. Joan brings a wealth of experience across a range of industries and sectors but importantly a depth of knowledge of the radio and broader media industries. Her knowledge of the
commercial media environment, challenges facing the radio industry in the digital age, corporate governance and the complex regulatory landscape within which commercial radio operates will be of great value to Super Radio Network as we chart our future course.”
Director, Despina Priala (Caralis) said:
“Joan has a great track record and led the commercial radio industry through changing, and sometimes difficult, times. Under her watch the industry plotted a course for the future with, among other initiatives, the development of the Radio App and its inclusion in Amazon and Google devices, the highly regarded Podcast Ranker, the acquisition of no cost digital radio spectrum, the lauded Radio360 research methodology and the initiation of regular regional radio surveys. Joan’s understanding and practical knowledge of the radio industry, and especially regional radio and its uniqueness, will be key to Super Radio Network’s further development as the largest privately owned commercial radio network in Australia. We are very pleased that she has agreed to join us.”
And the new Board of Directors Chair Joan Warner said:
“I am delighted to be taking on the role of Chair of the various companies that make up the Super Radio Network. Super Radio Network has an impressive array of stations across a large number of regional areas as well, of course, as Sydney’s 2SM. One of my first major tasks will be the recruitment of a Chief Executive Officer for the Group. As Chair I will be joining George and Despina in looking at the future of the Super Network Group of companies and am very pleased to be a part of that
process.”
Super Radio Network is the largest privately owned commercial network in Australia with 50 radio stations across NSW, Queensland and Northern Territory. The network was started by Bill and Pam Caralis in 1987 and, for the past year since the passing of both Bill and Pam, has been jointly managed by George Caralis and Despina Priala.
