Job losses at Nova’s Goat

Nova Entertainment’s youth digital platform Goat is losing several staff as part of the company’s redundancy process.

The mobile app, targeted to millennials, launched in 2018 and will continue to operate, but with restructured content and a different way of operating.

The app is a pop culture, news and entertainment platform, designed primarily for mobile consumption, delivering short content across written, video, image and audio formats.

Since its launch in 2018, Goat has moved into podcasting, introducing the series called Big Day For last year and will now increase its audio offerings further.

Fayad Tohme, NOVA Entertainment’s Chief Digital Officer has told radioinfo:

“Since launching as a unique mobile and digital offering for millennials in April 2018, GOAT has performed strongly with its target audience. GOAT was purpose-built to tell the stories that matter to them, in a way that reflects their content preferences.

“COVID has accelerated consumer adoption of digital audio enormously, and nowhere is this more evident than in the media habits of millennials. In response, we are shifting GOAT’s content format from an editorial focus to digital audio – an area of core strength for NOVA Entertainment and one with strong appeal for our audience.

“Connecting with millennials in an authentic way is critical to NOVA Entertainment’s success and that of our clients and we will continue to do so via compelling digital audio content under the banner of the GOAT brand.”
