After receiving thousands of entries from aspiring musicians, John Laws will announce the winner of his Rising Star award this morning on his 2UE program.

Listeners were invited to vote for five finalists in the radio version of Australian Idol, the John Laws Rising Star.

The winner will score a 14 hour studio session with Sony Music, a three night getaway to Hamilton Island and possibly a recording contract.

As part of the winner’s exceptional exposure, the Rising Star will perform to a live audience at the Hunter Valley Gardens on 22 October, during an outside broadcast by Laws.

The final five are:

2) Wendy Coppo – Soloist

3) Those Gals – Band

4) Anthony Snape – Soloist

5) Bak 2 U – Band
