A South Australian Liberal MP has moved a motion, calling for a public apology from the ABC over comments made on air about MPs.
Speaker, Peter Lewis, is unhappy with comments made by 891ABC Adelaide morning presenters, Matthew Abraham and David Bevan, suggesting MPs might have been drunk during a late night sitting.
Liberal, Mitch Williams, has moved a motion for the Speaker to write to the Press Council and ABC, asking for an apology and a correction.
“I know that information that was broadcast to be totally inaccurate and that is why I was outraged.
“It brings disrepute on the whole of this Parliament to have that sort of information broadcast across the whole of the state.”
Meanwhile, the ABC’s level of local content will be examined today in the first session of a state parliamentary select committee.
The committee was set up by independent MP, Nick Xenophon.
