2024 is JOY 94.9’s 30th year on air with their JOY Radiothon, back from June 1st to 7th, 2024, set to be the most ambitious and audacious ever. Proudly representing members of Australia’s diverse LGBTQIA+ communities, providing news, showcasing Australian LGBTQIA+ musicians and artists and advocating during times of crisis across Melbourne and Australia, JOY is a crucial part of the country’s media landscape.

The theme of this year’s JOY Radiothon is FLOURISH with JOY Media CEO Isabelle James saying:

“The unwavering support of our supporters is crucial for maintaining JOY’s vibrancy, especially during our highly anticipated JOY Radiothon in 2024. JOY Radiothon serves as a vital event for sustaining our unique platform as the only LGBTQIA+ station in Australia, and one of just four worldwide. Your support will ensure that JOY continues to be a beacon of light for all.” 

JOY Media President David “Macca” McCarthy says JOY proudly represents the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies:

“From JOY’s presenters, podcasters, newsreaders, producers and our music team, JOY represents you. It’s important to hear your voice reflected in what we do, and to keep the issues that are important to you at the forefront of everything that we do. To help us to continue to do this, JOY Radiothon 2024 is imperative to keep us on air.” 

The fundraising target is $300,000 with supporters being encouraged to donate and renew their membership. All who renew their membership or purchase JOY merch on the online store will be entered into the prize draw to win VIP entry to a JOY Radiothon Party or other prizes announced daily on JOY Breakfast with Rach and Dean and JOY Drive with Warren from May 20.
