K rock’s The Band returns for 2016

Returning to Geelong’s Home of Live Music is K rock’s search for the best unsigned or independent artist in Geelong and the Surf Coast The band 2016 will be hitting The Barwon Club for Heat 1 on Friday 4th November.

Entries are now open for local artists who by entering may get the opportunity for some air play. This kind of money can’t buy opportunity is one that is sought after by many local musicians.

This year K rock joined forces with Run Geelong to create a bigger and better money can’t buy prize.

Not only will the winner walk away with over $5k worth of airtime, they will gain an instant crowd of over ten thousand when they are the supporting act for Samantha Jade at Run Geelong 2016 on Sunday 20th November.

Lee Stamps, K rock’s Music Director said she is thrilled to showcase local music on on-air 5th year.

“Geelong and the Surf Coast have really talented artists, and to play their tracks and highlight their work is one of my favourite events on our calendar.” Lee Stamps said.

“Working closely with previous bands, I have got to know the local music scene and feel honoured to work with them through this process. I’m excited to find the next Famous Will or Sam Hanson and crown another winner. Plus we get to rock out to great music!”

The opportunity has proved to be a positive and life changing experience for previous finalists.

K rock’s The Band 2015 winner, Sam Hanson has released his new EP ‘Contagious’ available now on iTunes which is more than indication his music career is nothing short of a success story.

‘Winning the band 2015 has not only boosted my performing confidence, but has opened more doors within the music world than I could have imagined.” Former winner Sam Hanson said.

“I would have to say it’s given me opportunities that are priceless, and so important in furthering my musical journey.”

“It’s not only the air play that I have received from winning, it’s everything else that goes with it, from playing live on air, to having people know your music and your name that didn’t before.
Still now one year on and I am growing from strength to strength in my music.”
