Kane Cornes extends contract with SEN through to the end of 2029

Kane Cornes has signed a contract extension through to the end of 2029 with Sports Entertainment Network (SEN), despite already being committed to the network until the end of 2026 and also not personally being a fan of any sort of long term lock in contract.

It’s been a stellar year for the highly regarded broadcaster and commentator. Cornes is the reigning back-to-back winner of the Alf Brown Trophy (main image) and, alongside television commitments, will continue to feature across Fireball with Kane & Kingy, Crunch Time, and as part of AFL Nation with SEN.

But perhaps Cornes has shown his additional commitment to SEN after a joke set of social media posts by SCA‘s Triple M network. Someone set the rumour mill into overdrive that Cornes was headed to SCA with fuel added to the fire by the Herald Sun. SEN CEO Craig Hutchison laughed off the stories on his own Sounding Board podcast with Kane too seemingly increasingly frustrated and perplexed when questioned. As it turns out it was CHAD Cornes who joined Triple M Footy for the 2025 SANFL grand final.

The whole thing has, in this writer’s eyes, resulted in Kane Cornes appearing an even more desirable catch for SEN and extremely loyal to boot.

Kane said of the extension:

“I’ve never been a fan of long-term contracts in footy – so the irony of this deal isn’t lost on me.

But SEN is home – I love the team, the audience and the freedom to say what I think. I’m excited to keep doing what I do, and to keep challenging the conversation around sport in this country.”

Craig Hutchison added:

“Kane is one of the most compelling broadcasters in Australian sport.

His authenticity, courage and work ethic are unmatched. Our audience loves him, and we’re thrilled he’s committed long-term to SEN.”

SCA might have won the first match up but SEN the Grand Final. Well played.
