Kate Dundas has been appointed to the position of Head, National Music Networks (Triple J and ABC Classic FM), replacing Ed Breslin. She will begin her new role on 22 October.
Dundas has had extensive experience in broadcast management and media policy. In the past she has managed the ABC’s Metropolitan Radio stations, had responsibility for ABC Radio Marketing and Audience Research and prior to leaving the ABC in 1997 was General Manager of Policy and Development for Regional Services.
In the past five years Dundas has held senior management positions in the NSW Premier’s Department, most recently as Director Strategic Policy and Reform. She has been an active member of Boards and Committees during her time in State government and while at the ABC, she represented the Corporation’s interests in both national and international forums.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with the national music networks. In my policy roles at the ABC I worked on service development and editorial issues for both Triple J and ABC Classic FM. The music networks are an invaluable part of ABC Radio’s role as a public broadcaster and each offers a unique service to its listeners,” says Dundas.
“I see my role as supporting both networks to increase their influence across the country and to further Australian music. I’m extremely happy to be able to indulge my passion for working in radio again and thrilled that I’ll be closely involved with such dedicated music programmers and broadcasters.”
