Nova 96.9 General Manager returns to the U.S.

The General Manager of Nova Sydney has decided to return to his home in the United States.

Larry Bruce has been the General Manager of Nova 96.9 since late 2000. It became necessary for his family to return to the U.S. some months ago and Larry will join them at the end of this month.

DMG Radio CEO, Paul Thompson said, “We understand why it is necessary for Larry to be with his family and we will miss his day to day involvement. Larry’s work, particularly the establishment of the Nova 96.9 brand and the establishment of the station itself is something we recognise and appreciate greatly. We are, however, very pleased that Larry has agreed to a consultancy arrangement with the station which will allow us to continue our valuable association.”

Larry Bruce added, “It is with deep regret that I must announce my resignation as General Manager of Nova 96.9. As most people are aware, circumstances required my family to return to the U.S. some months ago, and now require my return to America as well. I will continue my association with Nova and DMG as a consultant, rather than as a General Manager. I consider my work on the launch and development of the Nova brand and my contribution to the Nova team to be some of the best I’ve ever done. Nova is growing and will continue to grow and develop as a premiere player in the Sydney market.”

radioinfo:Have you enjoyed your time in Australia?
LB:Very much. Since my association with 3XY in 1983, then continuing with Austereo in ’85, I’ve always enjoyed coming here – Australia’s a great place!

radioinfo:Will we be seeing you back here any time soon?
LB:Oh, I’ll be visiting from time to time. We haven’t sorted out the details of my consultancy yet, but I look forward to contributing to DMG’s ongoing success in the future.

radioinfo:Any word on who your replacement is likely to be?
LB:Not yet. This resignation wasn’t planned at all, so there’s nobody waiting in the wings. My understanding is that an interim Station Manager will be appointed to “mind the shop” till the selection process is completed.

Larry’s last day is November 1.
