Kathleen Hanna & Mark Arm join the Double J team

Each month, Double J brings you a unique Artist in Residence, handing the headphones over to your idols for a look at their world of music.

Joining the Double J team are Kathleen Hanna of legendary Bikini Kill, Le Tigre and The Julie Ruin throughout September, as well as Mark Arm from Seattle garage-grunge icons Mudhoney, Green River and Monkeywrench in October.

Kathleen Hanna, Artist In Residence 3 – 5pm every Sunday in September

Kathleen’s radio shows will be everything you’d expect from the original Riot Grrrl and Punk Singer – provocative, high-energy, thoughtful, danceable and surprising. Her Double J residency will celebrate female music pioneers, dancefloor and DIY heroes and landmark songs made by women from folk to punk and pop. Plus she’s prepared a special program dissecting and comparing classic covers with their original versions.

Psyched to be working with such an icon, Meagan Loader says “’Whenever we’ve put together a list of the ultimate musicians we’d want to work with, Kathleen Hanna is always in our top 10. We’re pinching ourselves she’s on board. She’s revered and respected as one of the most influential feminist artists of our time. The music and stories she’ll bring will be incredible”.

Mark Arm, Artist In Residence 3 – 5pm every Sunday in October

We go from an East Coast punk provocateur to a West Coast grunge legend in October when Mark Arm gets behind the mic for five weeks of mind-blowing radio shows. He’s raided his own music collection, as well as the record crates of his bandmates in garage-psych supergroup Monkeywrench, to find the fuzziest, most spaced-out nuggets for your ears.

Catch both Kathleen Hanna and Mark Arm as they take up their Artist in Residencies on Double J, from 3 – 5pm every Sunday in September and October respectively.

Listen on your mobiledigital radio, on Channel 200 on your digital TV and online at doublej.net.au.

Plus you can stream each show for a week after it is broadcast.
