Keeping it Local – Townsville radio talks about drugs

This Thursday night at 6pm, 100.7 SEA FM and MIX 106.3 present a 1 hour special called “Let’s Talk About It” – a program about young people and drugs.

“What sold me on agreeing to produce such a show was that it deals with local issues. This is a 1 hour special that deals with commonly used drugs in Townsville such as speed, alcohol and chroming. It looks at what harm they can do to you and more importantly where you can get help,” says Sea FM and Mix 106.3 Program Director, Barry Keohane.

“And the amazing thing is that it’s presented by young people in Townsville who have been effected by drugs. They talk about their experiences and share some pretty emotional stories.”

The special is presented by participants in the Open Youth Project, run by Queensland Youth Services. The project is part of a National Illicit Drug Strategy Community Partnership Initative.

“If you are a young person or have young children, you need to listen to this program. You will hear first hand what drugs can do to you. It’s raw, emotional stuff but it gets the message across,” says Keohane.
